Technical Industrial Small Companies Network for Sustainable Growth, Sweden - Latvia Part 2

Background

The development of Latvian companies towards an environmentally friendly production is expected to have started when Latvia joins the EU. To meet markets demands and start business with Sweden and other countries within EU environment and quality management systems are needed to be built up in Latvia according to International Standards.

Aim of the project

The aim of the project is to continue create cross-business networks of Swedish and Latvian exports oriented Small and Medium Sized enterprises (SME). Through these networks, the participating companies will be able to create business opportunities, and identify and coordinate knowledge gaps in order to implement environment and quality management systems (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001).

Targets

  • Initiate 15-20, SME cross-business networks.
  • Implement Swedish SME, EU models to facilitate for Latvian SME, to use expected EU support

Within the coming year:

  • 10-15 Swedish SME should have started business relations with Latvian companies.
  • 10-15 Latvian SME should have started to implement environment and quality management systems (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001)

Activities and time plan

The project runs from January 2004 to December 2004. It includes the following main activities:

  • Enlargement of the business contact nets, Sweden and Latvia.
  • Establishment of the business contact nets, Sweden and Latvia.
  • Swedish SME model EU tailored to Latvian SME.
